A year ago, I went away with my new husband and his children for a Honeymoon/Family Holiday to Thailand; Diary Of My ‘Honeymoon’
It was not a lot of fun. Besides the usual issues of travelling with two children under ten, the children were standoffish with me, and I was overly cautious with them. They hadn’t travelled overseas before, and our itinerary was a little ambitious, for the younger one especially. This was the worst trip overseas I had ever been on. There was nowhere near as much exploring and adventuring as I would have liked. Continually hunting down chicken nuggets doesn’t count. I was stuck in a family beach resort in lousy weather. Then right at the end, I got food poisoning. It was the cherry on the cake of an exhausting holiday.
I had foolishly hoped taking my new family on a trip overseas would help us bond, I had been so wrong. I ended up broken and miserable and wondering if I had made a massive mistake marrying this man. Then one day I was standing in our hotel room, making my way back from the toilet to the bed, yet again, and my partner gave me a hug.
