Diary of Being a Writer; Month 59.
I am surprised at how tenacious I have been with my writing. How hopeful I still am about becoming a successful full-time author. I have taken on many creative endeavors in my life and had many dreams and aspirations. Along the way, I have been involved in some wonderful creative projects and had some exciting adventures. So far, I am most proud of having had a sold out solo comedy show at Melbourne International Comedy Festival. However, I didn’t take that moment to leverage it to progress my comedy career. Instead, I left Melbourne and went back to Adelaide to study. So another couple of projects, my degrees, that took me on more adventures and gave me some fascinating experiences. But yet again I did not turn those degrees into the Academic career I thought I might. Instead, I decided to write a book.
And ever since then, that is what I have been doing, writing books. It took me many years of doing everything else: comedy, acting, voice overs, freelance writing and YouTube to find the creative place I want to stay. I love it here, in my head, creating adventures for my characters, devising nasty things to happen to them, followed by miraculous escapes, hopefully. Writing fiction is the creative endeavor that gives me the most joy and the most satisfaction. And that is before…
