Not only is it a Monday, my usual nemesis after taking a break, I also have vet and doctor appointments today.
However, I am hoping that I can still do something productive. Over the weekend, I occasionally pondered my main characters plight and journey to see if any clever fancy pants ideas for how to get to the end would occur to me. They did not. It may well be a matter of just writing on through. I find when I am actually in the moment things sometimes flow for me. Sure sometimes they lead me down a blind alley. Then I have to back out again before my story can move forward again, but I will try and be more thorough with my plan next time, certainly the ending. Or maybe next time I will try pantsing the whole thing and see what happens.
Either way, I need to write 18,000 more words and have a satisfying conclusion by the time I get there. It may not take 18,000 words. But considering most of the novels I enjoy reading come in at around the 80,000 to 90, 000 mark I feel I should be aiming for that.
Things I need to remember to do;
Add more humour, the last third is much less funny than the first third.
Add more investigating conversations, Dawn just stumbles onto stuff instead of working it out with June.
Add funeral, completely forgot to bury murdered character.
Add more conflict for June, we haven’t mentioned…
