Diary of being a Writer; Week 142
The new job is taking up my time and energy.
Last week was all about the training for my new job. And researching an article.
I didn’t even get around to posting last weeks weekly diary yet. Hopefully, I can get to that before I start this morning.
I have three more weeks of training, and I just need to accept that my writing is going to take a backseat while I settle into my new job. The panic comes from worrying that I will stop. That like so many other projects in my life, I will not complete the final leg. The hard part, the bit where you have to face rejection, will be avoided, once again.
Accepting that I am going to prioritise my new job and let my writing take a backseat, means I feel less like I am failing or letting myself down. In my free time, I am making lists of things I want or need to do(that are not writing-related) and getting some of them done. It has put me in a better headspace.
I need to set goals around my writing to avoid the aforementioned typical behaviour of doing 90% of a project and then not seeing it through to the end. Yes, I can cunningly avoid failure by not completing whatever it is, but I am also aware that this is not helpful behaviour. Hence why I am calling myself out on it and trying to create strategies around…
