Setting goals and daring to dream.

Usually, New Years Resolutions aren’t my thing. Or if there were drunken declarations in my youth, I didn’t remember them the next day. This year I feel the need to be clear about my intentions. I want to honour my writing and my ongoing desire to be a better writer. So I thought that I would set some goals, contemplate some dreams, and make sure I stay focused on what I am doing and why.

A few years ago, when I started this journey, I did the Dream Author course. One of the first exercises was to write a list of ‘Dream Goals’.

My goals were as follows;

  • To earn $15,000 a year from writing by 2023 ( that was four years away, and I was writing freelance articles at the time. It is less likely now as I stopped pitching to magazines).
  • To write my Memoir( I did, but I published it as a blog instead of a book).
  • To write my Vampire Novel(Also done, now writing the second one).
  • To do more writing courses ( I have done several Writers SA ones, a few Australian Writers Centre ones, Dream Author Advanced, and I have subscribed to Master Class). I continue to try and learn and improve.
  • To write Victorian-era Detective Maid set in Adelaide( this would require…
