Diary of being a Writer; Week 201

I have signed with a Literary Agent!

So, in case you were wondering, I signed with that agent, yes, the one who seemed really lovely. Jennifer Chevais, at The Rights Factory, is my agent!. I mean, we all knew I was going to unless the contract had something bizarre in it. But there were no red flags.

I asked Jennifer about being signed with the agency and not her, and she reassured me that should she move, it would not be that difficult to follow her. Jennifer also let me know that she would do her best to match me with another agent if she were to leave agenting altogether. Still, she couldn’t guarantee that she could get me another. Which is fair.

And so now, I have an agent.

In so many ways, my life is still the same. I am still going to work, I am still writing this blog, and I am still cooking dinner for the family. However, in my head, things have changed a lot. I feel even more justified taking three weeks off in March just to write. I have a head even more full of plotlines and other book ideas. And I am just delighted that an agent loves Dawn enough to spend time and energy on getting her out into the world.

So the next step is to start my next writing course, Crime and Thriller Writing, with the Australian Writers Centre. And keep working on my…
