Who needs a publisher when you have Kickstarter?
And so ends week two of my self styled “at home” Writers Retreat. The budget and Coronavirus friendly version of a Writers Retreat where I get to write and think about writing every day, and the only thing missing is complete solitude and a view of the Blue Mountains.
I am grateful to be able to have this time. Clearing the decks to just think about writing really is a luxury that allows you to take your time coming up with ideas. It is headspace to let your thoughts run around freely. It is the ability to buggerise around for a few hours doing bits of research, knowing you will still be able to get your word count up a bit later when you feel like it instead of feeling pressure to get it done right now.
I love it, and I am pretty sure I could live like this every day for the rest of my life. I am so much happier when I am writing.
Now I only have a week left. I want to use the time well, so today, I am going to make up a timetable so that I get the most out of it. Including making sure I have a well established daily word count habit by the time I go back to work.
I should have some notes from my agent next week, so that will be interesting. Hopefully, none of it will be too tricky to fix. Because I presume that once those things are sorted, it can start going out into the world to find a publisher. I…
