Diary of Being A Writer; Week 206
My Agent has sent back my manuscript with editorial comments.
Day One
My agent has sent me her notes on my manuscript. She has also sent the reader’s report.
It is 5 am. I should go back to sleep. I can’t.
I have a sneaky little look at the reader’s report on my phone.
It seems positive, but the are some questions that will need answering.
I am excited but terrified.
I don’t go back to sleep. I try. I put on audiobooks, podcasts and finally, a sleep meditation. The lady trying to help me go back to sleep says, ‘’now I will guide you to gently let go of your thoughts, and my husband answers in his sleep, “do you really think so?’’
I eventually get up and go to work. I just want to look at my manuscript.
At the end of the workday, I am exhausted. I decide to have a nap before trying to make sense of anything about my story.
I wake up just in time to make dinner before my Crime Writing class starts
Tonight we are talking about action scenes. During the class, I pull up an action scene in my manuscript with its fresh new notes. I get distracted by the notes and realise I have just missed what the lecturer was saying about researching guns.
I put it away.
After class, I am exhausted and go to bed. I only wake up once or twice thinking about the work that lies ahead.
Day Two.
I have work. I am going to work. I am not thinking about the little bits of notes I’ve seen or the reader’s report. Well, not too much because it gets busy and the clients have some complex issues. I finish work and have dinner with my family…
