Diary of Being a Writer; Week 212

Still Editing. Still Learning.

I didn’t even realise that it had been a few weeks since I had written here. Understandable, I think. I have been busy with work, life and editing.

Oh, and I started another crime writing course, this one is fantastic. I am only two weeks in, and it is a ripper. It is with Faber Writing Academy at Allen & Unwin . It is Writing Crime Fiction w/ R.W.R. McDonald, Katherine Kovacic and guests. When I saw Rob was one of the writers we would be working with I was sold. I loved his book The Nancys. It is a great read. And I am now looking forward to my copy of Katherine’s book, The Portrait of Molly Dean to arrive.

Rob and Katherine are a great team and excellent instructors. The small class size and the interactive elements have made this a really enjoyable experience. Last week, not only had I worked all day, but I was feeling unwell and really tired but as soon as the session started, I felt invigorated and inspired. I came up with some great new ideas for my Stepmother Killer novel and I had fun learning and exploring Crime Fiction with some lovely classmates.

I have also joined my local chapter of Sisters in Crime and went and met with the organising committee to see if I can be of any help. It was delightful to meet these local crime fiction authors, although I…
