Diary Of Being A Writer; Week 43

It has been Christmas. There was a day this week when the temperature coincidentally reached 43 degrees. My brain no longer functions in those conditions.

Part of being a writer is being a reader. As part of this journey, I have read a lot of memoirs. I hadn’t thought about it before this year, but I have always enjoyed an excessive amount of autobiographies and memoirs. What is the difference? An autobiography tries to document an entire life, and a memoir tends to focus on certain aspects of a life with a side order of narrative. Carrie Fisher wrote memoirs, Morrisey has an autobiography(still in my TBR pile). Russell Brand writes memoirs and will probably continue to do so. John Cleese has written his autobiography.
If you write a memoir, there is every chance you can write another one. As long as something interesting happens to you. I feel like there will definitely be a sequel to I am Malala. I also read biographies, but they are another thing entirely and are better suited to dead people who didn’t have the time or inclination to write their own, Queen Elizabeth the First. Or your favourite rock star(I own at least three about David Bowie).
I do tend to choose to read more memoirs and autobiographies by comedians. Mainly because I am passionate about comedy and…
