Diary Of Being A Writer; Week 46
Of Technology and Tools.
Tuesday 15th of January
So I have managed to do my new morning routine three days in a row, so I feel good about that. The Sphere app I am using seems to be helping, especially with getting the morning pages written as it has a Pomodoro aspect along with everything else(meditation, breathing, exercise, inspiration etc.). It is like a one-stop ‘get your shit together’ app that just grabbed every other self-improvement app and shoved them all together. The first thing it is really insistent about is drinking water as soon as you wake up. I managed this.
Today is all about the editing. Editing/writing at least one of the two half-written pieces I have sitting in my Google Docs and editing my memoir which is lurking away in Scrivener.
I love my das keyboard, but I did get keyboard envy watching a YouTube Clip of a successful author who had one that looked like a typewriter. He had some good advice, and one of the things was about how yes, you can write anywhere on anything but if and when you can, invest in space to write and tools to write. Having a study with room for cats to hang out, a big monitor and a keyboard that makes clacky sounds makes me feel very lucky. I worry that if I don’t do enough writing in here that the writing gods may take it away from me again;
‘THOU HAST NOT WRITTEN ENOUGH. WE DECREE THAT FROM THIS DAY FORTH THOU SHALT ONLY…
