Diary Of Being A Writer; Week 81
How to write a commissioned article in under a week when you work and have other stuff going on.
This week was one of those writing weeks where I had a specific task to do, and I did it the way I know works for me.
I was given the topic by Adult Match Maker(AMM) on Monday; “something about married men having affairs”. I looked up the previous related articles on the AMM blog. I printed them out, along with all the comments. Including the comments that annoyed me. I even watched an Oprah Winfrey Special on “The Other Woman.”
I searched Google Scholar only to find that all the relevant research papers are not available for free. So then I search my old university’s library catalogue and hope that the more interesting papers will be available to alumni, some are. I read them all.
I quiz everyone I meet up with at work or socially what their thoughts are on the topic. This includes my husband whom I surprise in the shower with the question, ‘What do you think of people who cheat on their partner?’. Instead of assuming I am about to announce my unfaithfulness while brushing my teeth, he immediately knows I am thinking about an article. Points to him.
The whole time I have been writing snippets and notes and paragraphs.
I then wrote a reasonable article about why people are unfaithful and why they shouldn’t be by cobbling…
