Getting over my fear of description.

Agatha is all over Rivers of London.

So far this morning I have done all my chores, edited and scheduled some pieces for Fuck, A Love Story and answered some hard questions about my WIP to Georgia.
Now to see if I can continue what I started with adding some more description into my WIP.
When I went and tried, it was really easy. There was so much I had left out and not explained. Things that I knew and hadn’t shared with my reader. Things that I should share with my reader. At least when it comes time to edit it back again, I will know it can be done.

Today I googled “ how long does it take for Rohypnol to work” and ‘symptoms of being roofied’.
In the end, I discovered that it is just as likely that the character in my book has been slipped GHB, but we can’t know for sure without testing. And even then it can be inconclusive as these drugs don’t stay in your system for very long. None of this information will be in my story.

In between getting distracted, I mean doing research, I did write a lot more description, and quite frankly, I am amazed at how easy it is. A scene that was 1984 words long is now 4026 words and is better for it. The reader will know now where they are and what the characters look like, vaguely. I am not describing…
