My Continuing Adventures With Breast Cancer

I was doing pretty good, well you know, okayish, considering the whole breast cancer thing, coming off my HRT and continuing to deal with the day to day of work, family etc.

Today was a bit of a messy one as we had two specialist appointments in Adelaide, one for my step daughter at 11pm and one for me at 2 pm. It didn’t really make sense to be driving back and forth from Gawler, and as it was her birthday, we decided to take the whole day off and have lunch in Adelaide as well.

We started the day at our local cafe where she scored a free birthday cookie. However, the other thing that was happening this morning was the meeting of all the cancer specialists from Modbury and Lyell McEwin Hospital Hospitals, after which I was told I would be getting a call telling me when I would be getting surgery.

We did a little shopping, and my phone rang. It wasn’t the call I had been waiting for. This call wasn’t telling me when my surgery was. It was telling me to expect another call but from Benson Radiology and to book in as soon as possible. Why? Because the cancer doctors decided that I should have another mammogram on the right breast first. What the hell? BreastScreen SA did that already, right?
