A December of Watching Only Hallmark Christmas Movies

It wasn’t as bad as you might think.

I watched every one of these. Not all of them to the end.

It started out as just three or four Christmas romance movies last year, but then this year I discovered that there it isn’t just a dozen or so Christmas romance movies lurking on my various streaming services but there were in fact 34 new Hallmark Christmas movies being aired. And that it was this whole thing. There are Twitter and Reddit accounts. There are others, like me who don’t normally watch this kind of thing, watching this kind of thing, for a month, once a year. My partner then found me the ‘Countdown to Christmas’ list and by doing so threw down the gauntlet. It was on. I was going to watch every single one of these. I thought it would be funny. I made my Bingo checklist from what I had learnt so far from the movies I had already seen. I prepared to take lots of notes to do hilarious reviews and to point out the glaring similarities between the movies and the glaring inconsistencies within the movies.
Instead, I discovered that there is a world of difference between a good Hallmark Chrismas movie and a bad one. I also surprised myself at how many times I ticked the boxed labelled ‘Tearing up, despite the fact you are watching these movies “ironically”’.
